The Vermont Humane Federation is a strong, unified network of organizations and individuals dedicated to promoting the welfare of all animals.
Members meet regularly in an effort to network and discuss ideas. The VHF continues to play an active role in promoting legislative improvement in Montpelier.
The VHF supports education initiatives and works collaboratively on issues involving animal cruelty and neglect, disaster planning and ongoing issues pertaining to animal welfare.
Vermont Humane Federation has launched a toll-free Animal Welfare Line! 877-9-HUMANE (877-948-6263). Many thanks to Green Mountain Animal Defenders for their generous sponsorship of this terrific resource!
Recently, Joanne Bourbeau from the Humane Society and Steven Fesmire from Green Mountain College joined host Jane Lindholm on Vermont Public Radio to talk about animal cruelty. This interesting dicussion covered many aspects of this issue, answering some tough questions such as what to do if you think you may have witnessed animal cruelty or neglect, strengths and weaknesses of our laws protecting animals, and what kinds of responsibilities we have to the animals in our midst. Listen to this excellent segment, courtesy of Vermont Public Radio.
